It’s quite relatable, if you are a fido parent. You have been followed, stalked and given that cute puppy-eye-look until you felt pressurised and submitted to offering them a nibble from your food platter. To avoid being asked for your food you have also hidden behind the closed doors to finish your meals. A conscious pet parent always cares about their pet’s wellbeing and wouldn’t want to feed them anything that will not support their general health and longevity. A balanced, wholesome diet is essential for dogs' growth and good health, just like it is for us, the humans. Although, you may feed them good food, you must also know that there are food stuff that are blacklisted for your dog and they must not be fed to them at any cost. Here is a list of things your fido must never be offered, even out of love! 1.  Alcohol: Some people are very experimental and may casually feed liquor to their pet doggies to see the funny aftereffects. This may be termed as alcohol poisoning. Feeding them alcohol may lead to many serious disabilities, or vomiting, diarrhoea, breathing problems and even death in some cases. 2.  Bones: A bone held in dog’s mouth may be a common visualisation for many. Yes, they love to chew but bones that are brittle or cooked and soft may pose a choking hazard and result in internal injuries to them. 3.  Caffeine and coffee: Any food that contains caffeine or coffee can make your pet babies restless with fast heartbeat. It is undoubtedly toxic for pets and extreme caffeine poisoning may lead in death too. 4.  Chocolate: A substance in chocolate called theobromine is toxic to dogs. Ensure your pet doesn’t pick the fallen pieces of chocolate on the floor. Overconsumption, even by mistake may result in nausea, diarrhoea, and many severe ailments. 5.  Garlic and onions: Any form of garlic and onion has the potential to harm your furry baby’s red blood cells and cause anaemia. This can lead to weakness and listlessness in your pets. 6.  Grapes and raisins: Some fruits like watermelon, apple, pear are healthy for our pet babies but some like grapes and raisins made from grapes may result in them vomiting and causing discomfort in the abdomen. They are extremely toxic, and if over-consumed may even lead to kidney failure. 7.  Avocados: We have known avocados to be healthy but a substance called persin in them may be super toxic to dogs. Feeding them this vegetable full of healthy unsaturated fats may result in digestive problems for them. 8.  Healthy human confectionaries: As health-alert people, we may want to still indulge in low-cal confectionaries crafted with sugar substitutes.   Baked goodies, gums and candies with artificial sweeteners, if ingested by your pets may result in a quick release of insulin leading to low blood sugar. 9.  High fat food: Fried food or meats rich in fats may give your furry friend pancreatitis. Pancreatitis in pets, much like in humans, is unbearable. Pancreatic inflammation may also be caused due to heavy fatty food consumption. 10.  Dairy products: Not every, but quite some dogs are intolerant to lactose. Dairy products may make them ill and affect their gut, resulting in diarrhoea and an upset stomach. Being a pet parent is a huge responsibility. They need to be taken care of with the best of your abilities. Your best companion may not consume too much of anything accidently unless it is fed. However, if it does over-consume something not meant for it, do not panic. Consult a vet immediately.
