5 Fun (and Super Achievable) New Year’s Resolutions for Dog People

As we wave goodbye to another furbulous year, we’re sniffing out ways to help you and Fido live your best lives together in 2023. Here are 5 New Year’s resolutions for dogs and the people who love ’em.

Dog New Year’s resolution #1: Spend more time.

Topping your dog’s list is spending more time with their fave person (YOU!), and it’s what we’re all about at Sidewalk Dog! Pupscribe to our newsletter to get the scoop on dog-friendly events delivered to your inbox weekly. Need even more ideas? With thousands of dog-friendly businesses at your fingertips, the sky’s the limit when it comes to finding new ways to relish life with Rover by your side.

Dog New Year’s resolution #2: Make a list.

Get creative with a 2023 dog-friendly bucket list. Need help getting started? Try getting to every dog-friendly brewery in your city (our Minneapolis or Denver Dog-Friendly Brewery Passes can help). Bone up on patio etiquette before you head out!

Dog New Year’s resolution #3: Get active.

This one might feel a little cliché but if your dog’s physique is looking a little “squishy,” it’s time to find a slimming solution to keep pup healthy. Make it a team effort by exploring ways to exercise with your dog. Summer time is great for teaching your dog to swim, and in winter you can try skijoring. Have an extra motivated mutt? Give agility a try!

Dog New Year’s resolution #4: Give back.

Did you adopt your pupper from a local rescue? Show your appreciation by brightening their day with a donation, or signing up to volunteer or foster. Even if the adoption was years ago, they’d still ruv your support—and an update on how your dog is doing. ♥

Dog New Year’s resolution #5: Teach tricks.

Nothing stimulates your dog’s mind—and impresses their fans—like learning a new trick. Gather up some treats, a whole lotta patience, and your creativity. Let things get a little weird (case in point: the video below). Share your trick videos with #SidewalkDog. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
