When it comes to taking your four-legged friend out for a treat, look no further than the Australian restaurant and café Bondi Green which has recently become very dog-friendly. Not only does Bondi Green now have unique treats on the menu just for pups, but the delicious food, effortlessly stylish vibes, and its location next to the capital’s iconic Paddington canal, make it a must-visit for humans too. Here are 7 reasons why you and your dog will love dog-friendly Bondi Green London…
1. The Canal Views
Bondi Green is located next to the Paddington canal, so you and your dog can enjoy some great canal views whilst you eat if opting for one of the tables outside, or a post-brunch walk along the canal with your dog after eating inside. Dogs are welcome to join their humans inside at Bondi Green until 5 pm daily.
2. Aussie beach café culture at Bondi Green London
Bondi Green lives up to its name with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that we were immediately drawn to and the gorgeous interiors make you feel like you’re brunching somewhere far more exotic than London. The tropical decor infused with pastel hues is just the right mix of incredibly stylish mixed with a touch of quirky that will make you want to come back again and again (we already have). Weekends are understandably popular so make sure to book in advance.
3. Brunch just got better
The food at Bondi Green is delicious. It’s renowned for its bottomless brunch on the weekends but if that’s not your thing, fear not there’s plenty more on the menu to enjoy. Having visited a few times now we’ve tried the summertime portabello, fancy bacon roll, shakshouka and pizza as mains and they are all delicious. But for me, the standout menu items are the sweet treats in the Bondi Green food line-up. The Golden Gaytime pancakes, the award-winning banana bread and finally those famous Lamingtons (especially the vegan chocolate ones), all get a firm 10/10 from us.
4. The Lamingtons…
Now let’s talk about those Lamingtons! Although I lived in Australia for several years, the Aussie love of Lamingtons somehow passed me by – until I tried one at Bondi Green that is. Not a great lover of coconut, I was somewhat sceptical as Lamingtons are sponge cakes with an outer layer of cream or icing and then rolled in desiccated coconut. The coconut is surprisingly subtle however and the Lamingtons themselves are delicious. A bit like an Aussie take on the British Victoria sponge but less sweet and much tastier especially as they come in so many flavours. Black Tiramisu Lamington anyone? Definitely save room for a Lamington if you visit.
5. Treats for pups now on the menu at Dog-friendly Bondi Green
With the addition of the new Doggie Lamingtons and Bone Biscuits to the menu, pups won’t be left out when it comes to tucking into delicious treats when visiting Bondi Green. Based on the legendary human cakes from down under with the same name, the doggie lamingtons are the first such cakes for pups of their kind in London and they went down a treat.
Being able to include Belinha in my brunch plans with treats from the menu makes all the difference, and is something Belinha has almost come to expect. I’m sure in Belinha’s mind being dog-friendly equates to there being a dog menu, so well done Bondi Green! The Doggie treats are available for £4 for a Lamington or for two Bone Biscuits.
6. Dogs can relax in style at Bondi Green
Dogs won’t be slumming it on the floor at Bondi Green, thanks to the designer dog beds on offer for pups to kick back and relax in. Dogs of a larger size may have trouble fitting into the dog beds but you can always follow Belinha’s lead and where there’s a will there’s a way! Stylish marble water bowls are also available to keep pups hydrated too.
7. Perfect for lunch after a dog-friendly boat trip on the Canal
If you take one of Go Boat London’s legendary dog-friendly boats for a sail down Regent’s Canal, then Bondi Green is perfectly located for a post sail brunch or coffee (with Doggie Lamingtons of course), making it the perfect end to an active day with your pup.
