The coyote (Canis latrans) is a species of
canine
native to North America. It is smaller than its close relative, the wolf, and slightly smaller than the closely related eastern wolf and red wolf.

While
coyotes
are canines and
cats
are felines, these two animals have plenty in common. Both are natural hunters that stalk smaller prey. Both frequent urban and country territory alike. They prefer to hunt and patrol the streets under the cover of darkness.
