Are dogs allergic to chocolate?

  • Chocolate can be toxic for dogs, causing symptoms ranging from vomiting to seizures and even death, depending on the amount of chocolate a dog ingests. The specific chemical in chocolate that negatively affects dogs is theobromine.

In large enough amounts, chocolate and cocoa products can kill your dog.

The toxic component of chocolate is theobromine.

Humans easily metabolize theobromine, but dogs process it much more slowly, allowing it to build up to toxic levels in their system.

Dogs are not allergic to chocolate, but some dogs cannot metabolize it and it can kill them. Just to be safe, NO dog should ever be given chocolate. Some dogs find some and eat it and live, but you never know if your dog might be one that dies from it.Well, they arent allergic to chocolate, chocolate is like a poison to them. if you want to feed your dog chocolate because you are eating some and he looks like he wants some its because he THINKS its a treat but its not. so dont feed it to him/her.
