5. Cochiti Lake. Almost to Santa Fe on the road from Albuquerque, Cochiti Lake is a dog friendly-recreation area with a couple of beach areas. Expect to pay a small day use fee throughout the year. Put Rover on a leash and mosey on over to the east side of the lake to explore all the coves and hop in the water for a refreshing swim.

On a road trip last fall from Denver to Arizona, we stopped to camp at cochiti Lake with our three dogs. We had the options of different hookups, and it was very open so we could choose a spot a little more quiet away from all the noise of generators and kids. Very close to the lake which we took our Kayak out on.

Not sure in specific for Cochiti, but most places you'll be fine to have the dog as long as its not the designated swimming area along the beach. Please verify this information, and don't trust me. I bet most of the Forest Service Ranger Stations will either know the answer, or how to get it. level 1
