Dogs Are Not Allowed On NYC Subway Unless They're In A Carrier&So This Happened. The rules are clear when it comes to carrying animals on the New York subway. "No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container." =I.

Small domestic pets are
permitted on the subway
and on buses of
New York City
Transit and MTA Bus only when they are carried in kennels or similar containers that can be accommodated by you on your lap without annoyance to other passengers.

New York City regulations also state that dogs must be contained before entering the subway facility, so don't walk to the platform with your dog outside its carrying case. Think about the trip...

Identification of service dogs in NYC subway is not a requirement. ID cards and licenses for service animals can be requested through the MTA but they are voluntary as the ADA law forbids documentation requirements as a condition for entry.
