Dogs have an incredible sense of smell. Therefore, the diffusion of essential oils in the rooms can be unbearable for them. That is, it could cause nausea or vomiting, especially in a closed room. So that you know, dogs have around 300 million olfactory receptors. This means that diffusing 4-6 drops of essential oils into the ultrasonic diffuser for your pets is like diffusing more than 100,000 drops of essential oils for us.

They're safe, lightly-scented oils that help deliver the oil safely to your dog's skin. Great carriers include coconut oil, avocado oil, aloe vera, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil. To dilute your essential oil, aim for one drop of essential oil for every tablespoon and a half of carrier oil.

Many people use essential oil diffusers to improve their health. Lavender is said to help with relaxation and sleep, while eucalyptus and peppermint oils help to clear a stuffy nose when you have a cold. But just how safe are these oils for our pets? Pets (as well as humans) can experience chemical burns with the direct contact of essential oils onto the skin. If pets lick up spills of these oils, they can experience chemical burns and other toxic effects.

Burning essential oils in a burner or diffuser can make a home smell so lovely something especially appreciated in a home where there is a fur-baby in residence. Whilst there are many oils that are beneficial to us and our dogs, not all essential oils are safe for dogs.

Diffusing Essential Oils Around Dogs. Not all essential oils are toxic to dogs. There is a safe way to diffuse essential oils around dogs. There are essential oils that are safe for use around dogs, but the list is very small. The biggest thing to remember is to dilute the oils. Dogs have very sensitive noses and respiratory systems.

Humidifiers are highly safe for pets. This tiny device helps relieve respiratory manifestations by setting moisture back to the air. In fact, these devices can help our pets stay healthy and alleviate dehydrated, itchy skin for both humans and pets alike.
