All parts of the onion plant are toxic to dogs, including the flesh, leaves, juice, and processed powders. Raw or cooked, fried or powdered, onions and the rest of the allium family (garlic, shallots, leeks, and chives) are harmful to dogs.

Onions contain compounds called disulfides and thiosulphates which can be toxic cats and dogs if ingested.

The ingestion of Onions causes conditions called hemolytic anemia, Heinz body anemia, and methemoglobinemia which are all manifestation of damage to red blood cells.

Onions are not good for dogs..
Onion in all forms - powdered, raw, cooked, or dehydrated - can
destroy a dog's red blood cells, leading to anemia.
