Often we get in Rottweilers with tails.

Rottweilers are RARELY born without a tail, their tails are usually docked at 2-5 days old, after this time the bones become stronger and the nerves form.

Docking a dogs tail later in life, or even as a six month old puppy is an amputation.

✔️

It's commonly believed that dogs wag their tails to convey that they are happy and friendly, but this isn't exactly true.

Dogs do use their tails to communicate, though a wagging tail doesn't always mean, "Come pet me!" Dogs have a kind of language that's based on the position and motion of their tails.

✔️

Here's the long and short of it.

Historically, tail docking was thought to prevent rabies, increase a dog's speed, and prevent injuries.

For hunting and herding breeds, tails could collect burrs and foxtails, causing pain and infection.

The longer tails of herding dogs could also be caught in gates behind livestock.

✔️

Tail docking is the term given to the surgical removal of puppies' tails for cosmetic purposes.

There are over 70 breeds of dog that traditionally have had their tails cut off a few days after birth.

The reason some breeds and not others are docked is simply because of the fashion set for that particular breed.

✔️

No problem. These dogs go without tails (or much of a tail, anyway), and they like it that way.

While many dog breeds have traditionally had their tails docked, these 7 breeds are born without a wagger.

They include the French bulldog, Boston terrier, Welsh corgi, and some lesser-known beauties, too.

✔️

Rottweilers are aggressive and vicious.

This opinion is the go-to myth that some people fall back upon with any dog breed they deem violent and unpredictable. In truth, the Rottweiler is a steadfast, friendly, and affectionate dog.

The reason some breeds and not others are docked is simply because of the fashion set for that particular breed.

Each breed has an arbitrary standard for where the tail should be cut off.

The RSPCA is opposed to the cosmetic tail docking of dogs because the procedure is unnecessary and compromises the welfare of dogs.

Because of the myth perpetuated in Misconception #1, Rottweilers are often considered unsafe around children. Remember, Rottweilers are no more hazardous to a child than any other dog breed. When raised and trained properly, they are protective and loving of their family members. They make excellent guard dogs, too.
