Repeat taking your dog out into the water. Do this a few times and then give him a break. Tip: Using a life jacket can make your dog feel more secure and is definitely a must in open water. Fish recommends the Ruff Wear Float Coat.

The earlier you expose your child to water, the more it will help prevent them from having a fear of being in the water. Most children are afraid of the water. They arent really afraid of it so much as they are averse to it. They can, of course, like any mammal, swim from birth. Interestingly, the two animals I can think of that are this averse to getting wet are the goat and the domestic cat. Both have...

Alzheimers patients usually do not like water or have a fear of water because they no longer perceive water in the same way that you do. Water is nearly invisible which does not sit well with many Alzheimers patients. Patients usually dont like drinking water, taking a shower in water or bathing in water.

It can be helpful to understand the reason behind your childs fear. Sometimes that can be difficult to ascertain, especially if its a more general fear of water. But many kids will be able to tell you about a scary movie they saw involving water, or a specific fear such as a monster living in the bottom of a lake or pool.

Suzie is sooooooooooooo afraid of water she will run out in the street to not get her paws wet when the sprinkler is on and hitting the sidewalk. I once threw her in a cannal and she swam to the other side but then would not swim back. I had to walk and call her to the end of the canal to where she could cross at the street.

Like many other long eared Spaniels, Brittanys can be prone to ear problems. We always recommend keeping an eye on their ears. If they like the water this is especially true. You want to keep their ears as dry and as clean as possible. As always though, we like to remind owners not to clean out the ear canal with a cotton bud.
