Airedale Terriers MUST have regular opportunities to vent their energy and to use their busy minds to do interesting things. Otherwise they will become rambunctious and bored which they usually express by barking and destructive chewing. Bored Airedales can destroy your home or yard in a single day. Airedale Terriers were never intended to be simply household pets.

Another interesting fact is that when the Titanic went down, two Airedale terriers also went down and lost their lives. John Wayne also owned an Airedale Terrier named either Duke or Little Duke. Warren G. Harding also owned an Airedale Terrier named Laddie Boy, whom he included in many of his cabinet meetings. President Theodore Roosevelt is remembered as saying, "An Airedale can do anything that any other dog can and then lick the other dog".

Airedale Terriers have been popular with a few United States presidents, including Calvin Coolidge. Airedales have been beloved hunting dogs throughout their history but have also excelled as police and military dogs, serving in World War I. Today, the Airedale Terrier ranks No. 62 on the AKCs list of most popular dog breeds.

With early socialization and training, Malamutes can learn to get along with other dogs and indoor cats& Their high prey drive can cause a Malamute to stalk and kill small animals, including birds, squirrels, cats and even smaller dogs. They need to be properly socialized and introduced to other companion animals.

The Airedale Terrier was originally bred to hunt for other animals. This is something they love doing. Their instinct tells them to chase and catch animals, whether these other animals are wild or domesticate animals like cats or other dogs. They are especially aggressive with dogs of the same sex.
