The Finnish Spitz Flat-Coated Retriever Mix, is a mixed breed dog resulting from breeding the Finnish Spitz and the Flat-Coated Retriever. Believe it or not, the hard-working Finnish Lapphund dog breed earned their keep herding reindeer in their native Lapland, in the far north of Finland. Friendly and gentle, the breed retains a strong herding instinct.... They're also highly affectionate with their families, even kids and other dogs.

Looking quite a bit like the Samoyed, Siberian Husky or Australian Shepherd, the Finnish Lapphund stands at between 40 and 52cm and weighing 15 to 24kg. The Finnish Lapphund is a medium sized dog with a friendly, sweet face.He has a beautiful soft cuddly kind of coat that is medium to long in length and essentially straight.

We are hopelessly devoted to the Finnish Lapphund and now seek to 'share the love' with owners who can appreciate the difference. We have also imported several Finnish Lapphunds to Australia. This includes our foundation girl "Summer" Ch. Lecibsin Sametti RN (Imp UK) who was born in Finland and raised by friends in the UK while waiting out the quarantine requirements for import to Australia.

The United Kennel Club granted full recognition to the Finnish Lapphund in 1994, and by the end of that decade, there were enough Finnish Lapphund fanciers in the US to form the Finnish Lapphund Club of America. The Finnish Lapphund was entered into the AKC’s Foundation Stock Service in 2001, and full recognition came in 2011. Pomeranian is originated from Germany but Finnish Lapphund is originated from Finland. Pomeranian may grow 24 cm / 9 inches shorter than Finnish Lapphund. Pomeranian may weigh 20 kg / 44 pounds lesser than Finnish Lapphund. Both Pomeranian and Finnish Lapphund has almost same life span. Both Pomeranian and Finnish Lapphund has almost same litter size.
