With early socialization and training, Malamutes can learn to get along with other dogs and indoor cats… Their high prey drive can cause a Malamute to stalk and kill small animals, including birds, squirrels, cats and even smaller dogs. They need to be properly socialized and introduced to other companion animals.

The Azawakh, also known as the Sahel Sighthound and the Tuareg Sloughi, is an African Sighthound who, for hundreds of years has been the companion of nomads of the South-Sahara. The breed first appeared in Europe around 1970. Like the Sloughi, Saluki, and Afghan Hound, the breed is most likely of oriental origin.

Note: The only reason the Azawakh doesn’t get a 5-star rating is that it is unfortunately not eternal – we know that ALL dog lovers would love their dogs to live forever, or at least for them to be by their side throughout their human lives. Nonetheless, given their generally fairly good health, you can expect your furry friend to stay with you for at least 12 to 15 years.

The Canadian Eskimo Dog — or Inuit Dog, as it is sometimes known — is a hard-working sled dog from the Canadian Arctic. In this barren environment, these dogs were a vital part of the lives of the Inuit people, serving mainly as draught dogs to pull heavy loads and cover massive distances while doing so.

Azawakh owners must also be aware that a breed member that is “best friends” with the family cat may pursue and even kill a neighbor’s cat that wanders into its yard. Azawakhs pose a number of training difficulties, and teaching this breed can be quite a challenge.

Also known as the Canadian Inuit Dog, the breed is old and extremely rare for a working dog breed. Over 1,100 years ago, the ancestors of modern Inuit brought home this breed from Siberia to North America. This breed is a rare breed with only about 500 pedigree left, and since the 50s, the numbers significantly reduced.
