A Norwegian Elkhound stands 19-21 inches tall and weighs 45-55 pounds once they are fully-grown. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother. Its not a guarantee, but you can meet the mother in-person to get an idea of what size to expect in a Norwegian Elkhound Mix.

The Toy Fox Terrier is not typically a problem barker and unlike many of the toy breeds they are not generally "yappy" dogs. They will bark to notify their owners when someone it at the door and they do tend to bark at other animals, especially cats, when they are outside spending time in the yard.

The Toy Fox Terrier makes an ideal therapy dog since they can be playful and clownish but also enjoy just cuddling up and spending time with a person. Their small size means that they are more practical for some patients to interact with than the large sized dogs that have more traditionally been used as therapy dogs.

Once the Norwegian Elkhound gained popularity, however, it was transported throughout the world, and oftentimes to places whose climatic characteristics proved to be the opposite of those under which the breed was created. Indeed, nowadays you can find Norwegian Elkhounds in such diverse places as the southern US and in Australia.

Temperament/Personality: The Norwegian Elkhound thrives on companionship and will prove to be a lifelong loyal friend. He is bold and energetic. They are alert, friendly, dependable, trustworthy, independent and dominant. Good with children if they do not aggravate them too much, also good with other dogs.

The Toy Fox Terrier can be used in hunting trials and even in earth dog competitions despite their small size. They can also be ideal in relay races such as Flyball, although they need specialized equipment as they are so light that they cannot pop the ball out of the standard weight springboards. Toy Fox Terriers are really a unique breed and ...
