Simethicone is generally accepted as safe for dogs, even in human-sized doses. However, there may be some drawbacks to the use of Gaviscon, Gas-X, or any other simethicone product in your dog. First, it is important to realize that these remedies can only suppress the symptoms of your dogs digestive problems; they do not represent any real cure, especially for chronic problems.

We give our dogs a gas-x (with vet approval) each meal to guard against bloat and we have given pepcid (again vet prescribed) for nauseousness. I actually went to a seminar given by a vet about what to have in your first aid kit.

In addition, exercise can help stimulate bowel movements and your dog can always expel excess gas outside if absolutely necessary. What to Do. Exercise your dog daily by playing or taking a walk. When that odor hits while youre watching television, thats a pretty good time to take Poochie out for a stroll as well. 10. No Soy Products. Soybeans do not do well with dogs or humans, but they are much worse for dogs.

Dogs Can Take Gas-X. Just remember that Simethicone, the active ingredient, is for short-term relief only. While Gas-X is an option, a quality probiotic may be much more beneficial over the long-term. But the best course of action&. Get your dog properly checked out.

If you are feeding your dog poor quality food, this can result in a buildup of gas. Premium dog food is easier to digest and is less likely to disrupt your dogs system. Your dog's diet may be the culprit if he has gas. If your dog has gas and is stinking up your home, no one is going to be happy with the situation.

Article Summary X. While occasional gas in your dog is normal, excessive gas for an extended period of time could be a sign that your dog has an underlying health issue that needs to be treated. Since gas is often a result of what your dog is eating, try giving it a lower-fiber, easier to digest food.

Gas-X is very safe for dogs, it is not absorbed into the bloodstream and is usually well tolerated at unusually high doses. Up to 8000 mg has been given to dogs without causing side effects apart from a loose stool, which is why many choose a better safe than sorry approach to this medicine and give very large amounts whenever they think their dog is bloating.

The answer is they wont. However, dogs are born foragers and they have been known to ingest pills from the floor. To be safe, its always ideal to keep your pills locked up or someplace high off the ground. You can also keep your dog distracted by giving it a few chew toys to play with.

The good news is: Yes! You can give your dog Gas-X. Simethicone, better known by the brand name Gas-X, is generally considered safe for dogs (although as always, you should make sure to consult your vet before administering any kind of medication). Wondering where to get it? You can grab Gas-X on Amazon! What Causes Gas in Dogs?
