Some Dalmatians can be reserved with strangers and aggressive toward other dogs; others are timid if they are not well socialised, and yet others can be highly strung. These dogs are known for having especially good "memories" and are said to recall any mistreatment for years.

Do Dalmatians Like Other Dogs? For the most part Dalmatians will get along fine with other dogs, and even cats. If you happen to own horses, they will get on famously. However, there are some Dalmatians who may not take kindly to other dogs. This is a not uncommon problem for many breeds. The best way to overcome this issue is early socialization.

Boerboels will get along with other dogs in your family. You can bring a Boerboel into a family with one to two dogs without any problems. With proper socialization, Boerboels can have a good relationship with other dogs in your family. If you have a Boerboel and want to bring in another dog, that is also fine.

Dalmatians get along well with other dogs or household pets, though it is should be socialized as a puppy if possible. The Dalmatian is naturally fond of humans and horses. The Dalmatian can be watchful around strangers. What to do if you find a lost Dalmatian

Likewise, they get along well with other dogs and non-canine pets. However, they will require proper socialization and consistent training to become an ideal companion.

They get along with other dogs Provided theyre well-socialised, Dalmatians should have no problem getting along with other pooches. They dont tend to have an aggressive streak, so lots of positive experiences with other mutts early on will allow them to develop their friendly personality.

Lottie. #9 Apr 30, 2006. Takara gets on very well with a border terrier, labs, a greyhound (although he does flatten her!), boxers and obviously other dalmatians! She was brought up with a springer until I got her and the dogs at the breeder's place still live with the ESS and get on well.

Dalmatians became popular in the 1800s, when they were used as coach dogs to trot alongside carriages and protect them and the horses from other dogs and threats. They have also been war sentinels, circus performers and hunters, as well as firehouse mascots. The Dalmatians we know today are primarily companion animals.
