Registration Requirements. Broward County requires that all dogs and cats, four months or older, must be registered and wear a Rabies Tag. Your pet must first be vaccinated against rabies to be registered. A copy of a current Rabies Certificate, issued by a licensed veterinarian, must be presented at the time of purchase.

Description:Per Martin County Ordinance #557, owners are required to have their cats and dogs vaccinated against rabies and obtain a Martin County Animal License. A new license tag must be purchased each year for all cat and dog pets, regardless if the animal has a one year or three year vaccination.

The only catch is that most of them require permits, but the good news is that these permits are no-cost and have reasonable requirements, so anyone can obtain them. Florida groups animals into "classes" based on the apparent "danger" they present to the public. Class 3 animals are legal with the obtainable permit.

Dog owners in Florida must adhere to both state and local regulations. As a responsible pet owner, it's your duty to ensure that your dog doesn't cause physical or monetary damage to people, other pets, livestock or property. You're required to vaccinate your dog against rabies and follow the regulations of the county in which you live.

Hobby breeders generally deal in about two litters a year and are exempt from licensing. Some counties in Florida--such as Miami-Dade county--require hobby breeders to register one time. They are not inspected, unless there is a complaint made against them.
