Breed Group: Hound. Height: 24 to 27 inches at the shoulder. Weight: 75 to 80 pounds. Life Span: 10 to 12 years. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is easy to spot among a canine crowd: Hes the one with the tiny Mohawk running down his spine. Expressive eyes reflect the sensitive spirit of this large, intelligent dog who loves to run and play.

The cause is an infection with the canine parvovirus. CPV is transmitted either by direct contact with an infected dog, or indirectly, by the fecal-oral route. Some evidence also suggests that the canine parvovirus can live in the ground soil for up to a year.

Canine parvovirus, commonly known as parvo, is a highly contagious viral disease that can cause serious illness and death in dogs. The first canine parvovirus was discovered in 1967. How long does canine parvo incubate? Incubation is the amount of time from first contact, to first symptoms. The typical incubation period for parvo is 3-6 days, while some have reported up to 2 weeks. Does parvo have a smell? No, humans cannot detect parvo by smelling feces or vomit.
