There shouldn't be much more than a little scar by the time the
pup is 6 months old. If there is a visible, soft "lump" on the
belly where the umbilical cord was attached, the puppy may have an
umbilical hernia. If it doesn't seem to be causing the pup pain or
discomfort, and the pup is otherwise thriving and in good health,
just ask your Vet to check the "lump" next time you're in for
vaccines or a check-up. Umbilical hernias can often be repaired at
the same time the pup is spayed or neutered.
