Fighting for freedom: Remembrance Day in Canada

Remembrance Day: Honouring military members and their loved ones on this day of reflection Today is Remembrance Day and Paws For Reaction extends sincere thanks to each and every person (and animal!) who fought, died, sacrificed, and continues to sacrifice for the freedom of this great nation. Freedom is a word that has been appropriated differently in the past few years. Rights and privileges have been confused and interchanged. Our freedom is a privilege given to us and protected by members of the Canadian military. Blood, sweat, tears, and lives secured this privilege. It is important that we don't allow politics and conspiracy theories to devalue this and detract from those who are true freedom fighters. We also recognize the sacrifice made by the family and loved ones of service members. These people may not be enlisted but sit across from empty chairs at the table during holidays. They take on child care and running the household in the absence of their partner. They support loved ones returning from war suffering from mental anguish and trauma. And sometimes, they bury the person they love the most. This country wouldn't be what it is today without the sacrifices made by the Canadian military and the people who support them. What they do is the true fight for our freedom. Today, and every day, the citizens of the True North commend you and honour you for your service. Give me a high paw and follow Paws For Reaction on PinterestLike Paws for Reaction on FacebookFollow @PawsForReaction on TwitterFollow my blog and subscribe  in the sidebar >>
