Coconut oil, when applied topically to the skin, can help alleviate itchiness and reduce the inflammatory responses that come with allergies. Its also particularly effective at reducing the allergic reaction to fleas, but it will also work to treat your dogs seasonal allergy symptoms.

Conducting a food trial with an elimination diet is the best way to diagnose a food allergy. Shampoos, soaps, fabric sprays and other chemicals that your dog comes into contact with also can cause allergic reactions. Keeping an eye on your four-legged friend's skin after a bath, avoiding spraying his bedding and keeping him in a different room of the house when you're cleaning can reduce itchy outbreaks and help you determine what's causing them.

Baking soda is another great allergy relief option for dogs. Its cheap and can work wonders! It calms itchy, inflamed skin. Here are 2 recipes that you can make at home: Baking Soda Paste. Oatmeal is one of the best remedies for dogs suffering from itchy skin caused by allergies. An oatmeal bath is very soothing and offers moisturizing benefits as well. Moreover, it can help relieve hot spots and remove fleas, ticks, and various allergens that may be present on your dogs skin or trapped in its coat.
