A husky puppy, once weaned, should eat about 2 cups of food a day, spread out over 3 meals, but this amount will vary from dog to dog, depending on individual wants and hunger. The amount can vary during growth spurts and teething as well.

How Fast Can a Husky Run. The Siberian husky can run at a top speed of 28 miles per hour. When the husky is not sprinting, they can go 20 miles per hour without much difficulty and cover as much as 50 miles at that pace. They are only bested by racing dogs like Hounds and Salukis that run at around 40 miles per hour.

It’s important for you to build up slowly so your Husky can adjust and become accustomed to the routine. A strenuous start could leave him limping the next day. It’s true that Siberian Huskies are capable of running over 100 miles per day. But you must take it slow when starting out.

From my own experience (got a husky puppy pretty much about one year ago): Huskies can (and will) run long distances if you allow them to, but it's a general misconception that they have to do it (especially from early age). Use the general rule of thumb of "about 1-2 minutes of walking per week of age" (that's for all dogs).

I'd be extremely happy if, at 70lbs he's considered medium sized and therefore can run at 12 months. Do you have suggestions on good quality foods for a husky who will be running about 70k per week? I am open to hearing arguments about raw food and cooked meat (and any particular suupplement brands/types).

Assuming she's in good overall health (your vet can help determine that), eight months of age is about the earliest you should start letting her run with you, and even then, you should figure on only a mile or two, at a relatively slow pace, at first.

How long do I wait before taking my puppy outside? Vets recommend waiting until 10-14 days after your puppy's last vaccination booster – usually at around 14–16 weeks of age – before introducing them to the wonders of local parks, beaches and walking trails.

By around eight weeks of age your puppy should be eating solid food.

Puppies should be fed three to four times a day therefore if you are currently feeding ΒΎ a cup of puppy food twice a day you should consider spacing it out by feeding Β½ cup three times a day.

A good rule of thumb is a ratio of five minutes exercise per month of age (up to twice a day) until the puppy is fully grown, i.e.

15 minutes (up to twice a day) when three months old, 20 minutes when four months old etc.

Once they are fully grown, they can go out for much longer.

Young puppies have short attention spans but you can expect them to begin to learn simple obedience commands such as "sit," "down," and "stay," as young as 7 to 8 weeks of age.

Formal dog training has traditionally been delayed until 6 months of age.

Actually, this juvenile stage is a very poor time to start.

Feeding adult food will rob your puppy of important nutrients.

Four feedings a day are usually adequate to meet nutritional demands.

Large breeds should be fed unmoistened dry food by 9 or 10 weeks; small dogs by 12 or 13 weeks.

3–6 months: Sometime during this period, decrease feedings from four to three a day.

The initial Siberian Husky price Generally, you should expect to pay between $600-$1,300. According to NextDayPets, the median price for Huskies sold is $725. Dogs with a superior pedigree will cost even more. For a top-quality dog with exceptional breed lines, the price starts at $1,400 and can go as high as $6,000.

When you play with your puppy, let him mouth on your hands.

Continue play until he bites especially hard.

When he does, immediately give a high-pitched yelp, as if you're hurt, and let your hand go limp.

This should startle your puppy and cause him to stop mouthing you, at least momentarily.
