  • Dog trainers who work with service and working dogs usually work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. This is likely to include some night training. Domestic dog trainers usually run blocks of day, evening and weekend classes. Many work part time.

Dog trainers work however long it takes for the dog to do the
command when asked to do it. If you are working a dog for 20
minutes and it knows everything by heart then you can stop training
the dog until the next day. Only train a dog for 30 minutes a day
even if they don't know everything. Progress with harder tricks
after a week.
