My dog is 15 years old. the first two years would equate to 24 human years (15 + 9), according to this system. That leaves 13 years, each equal to about 5 human years (65). So add all this up and I get my dog is 89 human years old. Your calculator says 83. Of course, it's all approximate, but still - 6 years is a LOT different. So, what's the deal?

age (years) = current year - birth year As an example, if I was born in 1995, my age in 2021 will be: 2021 - 1995 = 26 years . Of course, this only gives you a rough figure for how many years old you will be in the current year - it doesn't take into consideration the month and day of your birth compared to today's month and day.

Instead, a dog might age 15 human years. during its first year, and only about 4 human years/year after age two or three. In general, big dogs have shorter life spans than smaller dogs. Note that this is just an approximation.

A 1-year-old puppy equals a 10-15 years old human. Both are sexually mature and physically grown but still a bit lanky. A dogs second year of life equals 3-8 human years.
