How to Measure Your Dog. Accurate measurements are the key to ordering a dog coat that fits your Barbado da Terceira. Please enter your dog's measurements in the Get Your Dog Fittedarea above. Length (inches) measured from the shoulder blades (beside the backbone) to the base of the tail.

Hair should be brushed well down to the skin, working from the legs upwards. If this is too difficult, they should be shaved to 1-1 ? inches (7F clipper). Because the Barbado does not shed, hair should be trimmed when it gets too long. Trimming summer is not needed as the undercoat takes care of the heat.

Barbado da Terceira should have a tail that is set medium to low and either left at its natural length (and thus medium-sized and not going past the dog's hock) or docked by the tail's third vertebra. The dog may also have no tail. When the dog is relaxed, their tail should have a curve at its inferior tip and be hanging. ...

At Aradik, we do not cut the ears or the tail. We believe the future of the Barbado da Terceira, just like that of other traditionally docked/cropped breeds, necessarily depends on showing the animals in their natural form. Therefore, we aim to contribute today to the knowledge of what we should select tomorrow.
