This will not only keep your dog healthy but also yourself. It would help if you also played dog games with them like fetch. Tire them out well before coming home. This will not only keep the chewing at bay but also help with the underlying separation anxiety issue. CHEAT CODE OPTION:

To get dog urine smell out of carpet surfaces, apply a solution of one cup water, one cup white vinegar, and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Let the solution soak into the spot for 5 minutes, then blot it dry.

Get a pet deterrent spray or make your own using diluted vinegar, ammonia or alcohol. Then spray the carpet areas that doggie is bent on destroying. Next time he goes to chew on it, he'll taste whatever you spray -- hopefully it will be disgusting enough to convince him to not try again.

First, you need to be there at the moment when your dog starts to chew the carpet. When you catch them chewing, give an affirmative command like No (but with a positive tone) then hand them a chew toy. When the puppy starts to chew the toy, give him plenty of praises and a treat for the first few times. The puppy will eventually understand that its good behavior to use the chew toy and not the carpet as an outlet for his natural chewing behavior. Deter the Dog with Smelly Odor

If you have an older dog who has suddenly started chewing on the carpet, you should take him to see the vet to ensure there isn't a dental problem like a broken tooth or gum disease causing him to chew. To get started, you'll need just a few supplies: Treats; Chew Bones; Chew Toys; Deterrent spray
