Today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women and promote gender equality.
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th to commemorate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. The day also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and women’s rights.
This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity. This theme is a call to action to promote gender equity and eliminate gender-based discrimination and inequalities.
Gender equity is about ensuring that everyone, regardless of their gender, has access to the same opportunities, resources, and benefits. It recognizes that gender inequality is not just a women’s issue but a societal issue that affects everyone.
Paddington Pups believes in embracing equity in the pet industry and provides all team members, despite their gender, all the tools to be able to succeed, thrive and have fun within the doggy daycare environment.
Paddington Pups is proud to be a female-owned and founded company, led by our Top Dog Bree Robbins.
Currently, our team of 23 people is a majority of women and over our years of operation has always been 75-85% of women. This makes International Women’s Day a special day for us as a team, and an opportunity to celebrate the amazing contributions our team members make on a daily basis to Paddington Pups and the pups in our care.
In addition to Bree, the leadership team at Paddington Pups is also all female, consisting of our Senior Manager Danielle, Daycare Supervisors Amelia and Keeley, and Social Media and Marketing Manager, Lana. Working together as a team, they provide support and training to the rest of the team in a wide range of dog knowledge and skills, and their mission is to provide the very best services to all of the dogs in our care.
Bree is passionate about providing opportunities for women in the dog care industry, including employment, training, mentorship, and access to resources. She is extremely supportive of all team members at Paddington Pups and mentors them to continue learning and growing within the company and provides regular training and development opportunities for all employees to continually improve and perform to their full potential.
As a business owner and leader in her field, Bree is a role model for other women in the pet industry, demonstrating that it is possible to succeed in business and overcome gender-based obstacles. It is inspiring to work alongside her to maintain Paddington Pups as the best doggy daycare centre in Queensland.
