Hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 4 through 9, Creeping Charlie is desirable in part for its attractive foliage, which emits a pleasant odor somewhat similar to mint when the leaves are crushed or otherwise disturbed.

The oils in the leaves that cause the scent, however, are toxic
