Ahmad Ali Khan of Rampur, the Nawab of Rampur state, from 1794 to 1840, was the first breeder to create these dogs by crossing Afghan Hound, or in other words, the Tazi and the English Greyhound. While the English Greyhound contributed its speed, behavior, and obedience, the Afghan Hound added strength, resistance, and bravery to the local climate.
