The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, in terms of cynology a relatively new breed but as a type of working dog it existed much longer. In a way, similar to the old Bulldog which certainly is his ancestor. Crosses between Terriers and Bulldogs took place allready around 1800 but when the name Staffordshire Bull Terrier became in use is not certain.
