My Brussels Griffon is highly allergic and chews his feet and scratches when he is reacting. If the scratching has gone on long enough, there may be a bacterial infection on top of the yeast infection. This is what we dealt with most recently.

SM is rare in most breeds but has become very widespread in cavalier King Charles spaniels, the Brussels Griffon (Griffon Bruxellois), and Chihuahuas. The number of diagnosed cases in cavaliers has increased dramatically since 2000. Researchers estimate that more than 95% of cavaliers have CM and over 50% may have SM.

We have a small Brussels Griffon that has itchy skin that has turned black all over her body. It produces a foul odor and hair loss, although the hair loss has been mitigated by Temparil and Cephalexin. However, she''s still got blackened, crusty skin and itchiness. The odor is still present, as well. Any ideas?

Too much can happen to these little guys in the blink of an eye.

Raw feeding is proven to improve skin condition, and coat health, reduced irritation, itchy flaky skin, hair loss and an increased shine of fur are beautiful side-effects of a raw natural diet. Your Brussels Griffon will be the envy of the town in no time when switching to raw dog food.
