Jessie – 11 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Jessie is an 11 year old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is urgently seeking a new forever home. Sadly, through absolutely no fault of her own, Jessie has come back into our care after a significant change of personal circumstances which has left her homeless. She is currently being taken very good care of in kennels in Exeter, but we don’t want her to have to stay there long.

She’s used to living in a home and no doubt she’s very confused as to why all of that has changed. Jessie is almost eleven years old. She’s a robust Staffie who was originally from Cyprus. She arrived in the UK in March 2021 after spending her entire life living in a shelter, and settled into her new home really successfully. Jessie has been used to living with one caregiver and no other pets.

For consistency and to keep things simple for her, we’re looking for a home with no other pets or children so she can settle in as smoothly as possible. She has not shown adverse behaviour towards children or other dogs but we just don’t want to overwhelm her further considering her change of circumstances. Jessie is a very loyal, affectionate and good natured dog. She bonds with people quickly and is looking for a relaxed home atmosphere.

Jessie loves her walks and likes to go out rain or shine. She would benefit from a home with a little garden to potter about in, but as long as her adopters are keen walkers and take her out regularly, this isn’t compulsory. Her former home didn’t have a garden and she was quite happy. Jessie is looking for a home in a quiet, semi-rural area. She wouldn’t want to be in the city and she enjoys a quiet life. She socialises well with most other dogs and has learnt how to play tug of war (after a decade of not playing with toys!), and will even chase a ball on occasion.

Jessie doesn’t like joggers and gets quite anxious when they approach, so her new family need to be aware of when she should be kept on the lead to ensure she feels comfortable. She is also not a fan of cats. Jessie loves her food and will always sit for a treat. She is friendly when meeting new people and dogs out on walks, and she’s used to sleeping on the bed at night despite having her own cosy basket!

She is very affectionate and loves an ear scratch, and when she’s really loving it she’ll make little piggy grunts so you don’t stop. She really enjoys her home comforts and doesn’t ask for much at all. Despite all those years spent in the shelter, she has adapted to a companion lifestyle extremely well. Jessie is currently based in kennels in Exeter and is up to date on all her vaccines. She is ready for adoption now, and if you’d like to meet her we would love to hear from you.
