Libby – 11 year old female Jack Russell Terrier

Libby is an 11 year old female Jack Russell Terrier. She is in a foster home in Luton, Bedfordshire, waiting for someone to offer her, and her favourite squeaky ball, a lovely new home.

Libby arrived with a very poor right eye, which our vet decided needed to be removed straight away to make Libby comfortable. She is also blind in her left eye.

Despite the blindness, Libby is doing really well now, and blind dogs are an absolute joy to own, so don’t let that put you off! Libby took only a few days to settle into life at her foster home.

Libby is clean in the house and she goes to the back door when she needs to go out. She loves to be with her foster carers and she likes to sit next to them.

At night she goes upstairs and sleeps on the bed with them, and she very much hopes this will continue in her new home, please and thank you! Her foster carers have left Libby for up to 4 hours and she has been OK, but they think that she would become stressed if she was left every day.

Libby would like a home with someone around for most of the day. Libby isn’t keen on close contact with other dogs, so she would like to be the only one in her new home.

It’s also thought that she won’t get on with cats, so she needs a cat-free home. Libby isn’t keen on small children, but older, quiet and calmer ones might be OK for her.

Libby wants a nice quiet life and to be able to play with her squeaky ball when she feels like it.

Libby travels well in the back seat. She whines a bit at first but then settles down to enjoy the journey. Sleeping alongside her people, eating, and playing with her squeaky ball – she barks when she can’t find it!

Libby’s new home must have an enclosed garden that is safe for a blind dog to negotiate. A quiet, settled home with not too many steps or stairs would be best.

Libby needs to be your only pet, and she’d like you to be with her most of the time. Libby needs to be allowed to sleep on the bed with you, and you must offer a home to her squeaky ball too, as they are devoted chums.

Libby has been vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. We aren’t sure if she is spayed, but if she is not, Oldies Club will cover the cost of the spay operation at her new vet’s.
