The past year has been rough to say the least. We are coming up on a year since my son became a single father to his (then 5 months old) son. It was a terrifying, maddening and heartbreaking time for us. This changed all our lives as our family all chipped in to support my son and help with the baby. This included hiring an attorney. Legal issues are never fun and we were all on alert with our focus on making sure the baby was safe and loved. We are thankful my son was granted sole custody and the baby is now safe. Being a fulltime Grandmommy is a joy but also tough, and my focus has shifted and I’m am juggling more responsibilities.
This year my husband also faced a medical scare and we are are thankful that the treatment and minor surgery was successful.
We are not new to struggles but being faced with so much all at once was hard on m and my anxiety. I don’t multitask well at least not for extended periods. Just when things were starting to settle down our entire household came down sick including the baby. At the same time our girls started coming into heat. Winter followed by Millie and then Maze surprised us by syncing up and coming in early. The plan was to rest everyone so we could all catch our breaths, recharge and also take that time to start doing much needed work on our home. Winter had other plans. We decided not to risk with interfering with the pregnancy, if she was pregnant we knew we would find good homes. Judging by her growing tummy she is defiantly pregnant and is due in a couple weeks. We ordered a brand new whelping box off Amazon and refilled our supplies. I am in the process of reorganizing my office/training room back into a puppy room as we rearranged and all of our other rooms are being occupied. While not in the original plans we are excited for little paws and puppy breath.
We were then handed another challenge just a few weeks ago as our Muffin was taken from us swiftly. We as a family decided we would opt for quality of life over quantity but we had no idea how quickly it would happen. My youngest son and I took it the hardest. Just writing this is bringing tears. We laid her to rest here on our property where we can continue to have coffee n cuddles together in the mornings. Muffin loved babies and loved Winter’s babies the most. I have photos and video of her playing and loving on them. Winter’s litter with be bittersweet for sure. I wonder of the universe knew……..
Life keeps us on our toes. All we can do is stay prepared (the best we can) and flow as the river changes course. I am forever thankful for my family and to you our Supernova family and supporters.
