Jerky treats for dogs have been a hot topic over the last 10-15 years. In November 2011, the FDA gave pet owners a warning that chicken jerky food products might cause Fanconi Syndrome (a rare kidney disorder) in dogs who ate the products on a regular basis 6.

Unfortunately, while dogs can eat just about anything, the human body cannot deal with chicken jerky prepared in this manner. Chicken jerky for humans must be thoroughly cooked first, then dried, to ensure that all harmful bacteria have been killed. What Kind of Chicken can I Use?
