  • Primary lung cancer in dogs is relatively rare in dogs (under 1% of all cancer in dogs), but pulmonary adenocarcinoma is the most common type of canine lung cancer. As a matter of fact, almost 80% of primary lung cancer is caused by adenocarcinoma.

How long does a dog live that has lung cancer?

  • However, if a lung tumor is found incidentally and your dog is not displaying any symptoms, they may have a life expectancy of up to 1-2 years. If they are found to be in decent health and are a good candidate for treatment, their life expectancy can be expanded even longer.

Lung tumors are relatively rare in dogs, accounting for only 1% of all cancers diagnosed. The average age at diagnosis is 10 years with no sex or breed predilection. Metastatic cancer to the lungs is much more common than primary lung cancer. Lung tumors have moderate to high potential for metastasis (spreading).
