Are Akitas good family dogs? As a family dog, the Akita will certainly be playful, affectionate, courageous, and protective; a great addition to any pack. They do, however, need to be only taken on by families that can provide firm and loving discipline.

An Akita, or Miniature Pinscher, has quite a large body. It is also quite sensitive to hot and cold temperatures and should therefore be kept in a home that allows for the dogs to get air conditioning. It isnt necessary to pick a particular breed for your apartment, as long as you keep the dog outside and provide ample shelter.

Do Akitas make good apartment pets? Akitas are very large and they do require regular daily exercise but they are not especially active in the house. They are docile and loving with their family. If you have a small apartment you may find that an Akita takes up a lot of space.
