A dog's mouth is surprisingly clean, especially when you consider the number of places it's been.

Compared to cats whose saliva is teeming with dangerous bacteria, a bite from a dog is rarely a risk for infection.

The bacteria that make dogs sick are mostly species-specific and can't be transmitted to humans.
