Significant amounts of fluoride can also be readily found in pet foods and the consequences are just as dire for our pets. A study conducted by the EPA (Environmental Work Group) found high levels of fluoride contamination in eight major brands of dog food.

Fluoride is far more toxic to dogs than it is to humans I have filtered the water for my dogs (and for myself) since I realised Marley was having a reaction to fluoride in another product (doggie toothpaste).

If fluoride causes cognitive issues in children, it almost certainly does in dogs too. In fact, its likely dogs suffer even more ill effects from fluoride than people do, and they involve health issues far beyond neurological development issues. And the worst part is fluoride is very hard to avoid.

Simply it cant! Water is usually fluoridated at 1 part per million (1 ppm) to provide 1 mg of fluoride per liter of water. However, dogs and their humans who drink more than the average amount of this water will ingest higher levels of fluoride and be more susceptible to its toxic effects.

Fluoride is added to drinking water at approximately the rate of 1 mg / kg. The toxic dose to animals is widely acknowledged as twenty to thirty times this level. This means for a cat or dog to be poisoned theyd need to drink a huge amount of water which in itself can cause brain swelling from water intoxication.

Well, because human toothpaste contains fluoride and this is harmful for dogs. According to Wag, Severe poisoning can occur if your dog eats something with a very large amount of fluoride, such as toothpaste. This generally begins with the inflammation of the stomach and intestines, followed by an increased heart rate with abnormalities.
