One other thing to do: give him some plain (not vanilla - meaning no sugar or artificial sweeteners) non-fat yogurt. 1/4 cup twice a day.

If the sugar was ingested 4 hours ago, it is already through the stomach. Food and water should be taken up until the medicine stays down for an hour. A bland diet of boiled chickenand rice, no bones, can be offered in small amounts once the dog can keep water down.
