As for the question of overdose: practically speaking, there is no way to overdose on probiotics.

Keep in mind probiotics are taken orally.

So even if your dog did take too many, they would simply pass through your dog's digestive system.

A bit wasteful, perhaps, but it wouldn't do any harm to your dog.

the biggest concern here is that she might have a little bit of an upset stomachand possibly some diarrhea. As a whole, probiotics are very safe...the packages may be the biggest problem. Its amazing how much dogs love the stuff.

Dogs cannot overdose on probiotics. When the body receives a sufficient amount of probiotics, it will eliminate the rest. This can cause short term digestive issues such as gas and diarrhea, but there is no immediate danger when a dog consumes too many probiotics. Probiotics are a big topic for health in dogs.

Probiotic supplements are complete safe to give to dogs since they contain nothing but natural ingredients, i.e., probiotic bacteria that already exist in the canine GI tract.

Studies as to whether dogs can overdose on probiotics are inconclusive. One study related aggression in dogs to high doses of Lactobacillus in the gut bacteria, but then also states that "it is unknown if the gut microbiome similarly relates to animal aggression."

Probiotics also support the absorption of nutrients and contribute to a healthy immune response. Consuming too much of a probiotic supplement can be a bit of a shock to a pets system, but not dangerous. He would likely experience some diarrhea as the intestinal tracts microflora is being rebalanced.

The bacteria in probiotic supplements are not dangerous for your dog and he will eliminate the excess quantity. Probiotics are actually good for dogs as they can help restore the balance of the intestinal microbiome. This improves the dogs digestion, helping him to absorb nutrients better.
