Can dogs have almonds?

Dogs love the taste of almonds, particularly the flavored variety (jalapeno, barbecued, smoked, vanilla, cinnamon, etc.). While not toxic, almonds are not easily digested can give your dog an upset stomach and create gastric intestinal distress.

Can dogs have ham?

Ham and other salty meats and foods are very dangerous to pets. In addition to being high in fat, they are also very salty which can cause serious stomach ache or pancreatitis. Also, large breeds of dogs that eat salty food may drink too much water and develop a life-threatening condition called "bloat."

Likewise, other sugar-free products such as stevia, saccharin, sucralose, aspartame, etc. are also not poisonous to dogs. If your dog gets into one of these other sound-a-likes, it's not poisonous. No need to worry, as long as you're positive there's no xylitol!

Can dogs have butter?

Butter is, of course, made from milk, and some dogs are lactose intolerant. Butter is mostly saturated fat and doesn't offer any health benefits, as some other fatty oils do. If your dog has eaten butter, he should be fine. But avoid giving your dog butter in the future.

Can dogs have hangovers?

A large dog that simply licks up a small puddle of an average-strength beer will likely be fine, although they may show the effects of alcohol ingestion and get a hangover too. However, for smaller dogs, even a small amount of alcohol can be potentially fatal, and at best is apt to make your dog very sick.

Plain white and wheat bread is generally safe for dogs to eat, provided they don't have any allergies, and it usually does not cause any stomach upset. Feeding your dog bread as a treat now and then won't hurt her, as long as she is also fed a complete and balanced diet and gets plenty of exercise.

Can dogs have caffeine?

Pets are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine than people are. While 1-2 laps of coffee, tea or soda will not contain enough caffeine to cause poisoning in most pets, the ingestion of moderate amounts of coffee grounds, tea bags or 1-2 diet pills can easily cause death in small dogs or cats.

Can dogs have autism?

Although autism is not at this time something dogs can receive a diagnosis for, there is research being done into autism-like behaviors in dogs.
