Any type of salt will work since all salt acts as a dehydrator to kill the weeds. Using everyday table salt is the cheapest -- yet still effective -- way to go when using salt and water as a weed control. Another option is to mix 1 cup of salt with 4 cups of white vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon dish soap.
