Sophie is an adorable 6-year-old smiley gal. She was surrendered to FBV due to IVDD. She had surgery on her back but remains with impaired mobility and incontinence.

She is mobile but her back legs can be wonky. This does not slow her down one bit, though…she still can even run. Her foster family does exercises with her daily for continued muscle strengthening. These are super easy to perform and should be continued in her forever home.

Sophie is incontinent of bladder and bowel and is diapered to prevent messes from being left around the house. She also has a heart murmur and a mitral valve issue that she takes medication for daily. She takes Vetmedin (5mg) two times a day and will need continued monitoring of her condition and follow up with a cardiologist throughout the remainder of her life. She takes a cranberry supplement each day for urinary tract health as well.

Sophie lives with other dogs but needs not to as she really does not care for a lot of them. She is very selective in terms of dogs she likes and tolerates. Any excitement with other dogs will trigger her to attack. Therefore, she will be placed as an only dog. She lives with cats and children, though, and has no issues coexisting with them.

She does not care one way or the other if you have a fenced yard. She is crate trained and leash trained and knows the command to come. While it is not required for her to have someone home all day with her, someone who is home more than not is preferred. This way someone is around to make sure her diapers are changed regularly.

Sophie is a sweet, loving little girl. She adores her people and LOVES sitting in her person’s lap and chilling with her humans on the couch. She is the ultimate snuggle buddy. She also loves chewing on toys/bones (especially Benebones).

She is not high energy and her only aggression is towards other dogs. She really is truly happiest when she is with her people!! She loves to roll over onto her back for belly rubs and to give kisses tickling you with her funny little whiskers.

While Sophie is special needs, her care is rather easy. She is so tolerant which helps to make the care that much easier. She has so much love to give her people and just wants to be loved back. She gives back 10 times what she gets.
