Star – 2 year old female Pointer Cross

Star is a 2 year old female Pointer Cross. She was brought to the municipal dog pound by the local dog warden, having been found wandering the streets of Cyprus as a stray. Star – 2 year old female Pointer Cross

Star is a 2 year old female Pointer Cross. She was brought to the municipal dog pound by the local dog warden, having been found wandering the streets of Cyprus as a stray. Unfortunately she didn’t have a microchip, and no one came to visit the pound looking for her, so now she’s looking for a new home to call her forever.

Star is estimated to be around two years old. She’s a medium sized dog weighing around 19kg at present, and measuring roughly 70cm to the top of her head. She is described by the shelter volunteers as an absolute cuddle queen. She craves love and attention from anyone who can offer it to her, and she trusts new people really quickly.

She’s quite happy to just stand and be hugged, and she’ll lean in for more when you stop petting her! Star shares a kennel at the shelter with another female dog and has no issues. She is friendly, sociable and playful with other dogs, and we would anticipate any issues from her if she was rehomed alongside a resident pup. She would also benefit from having another dog to learn from, as she lacks basic training and will need time to understand how to behave in a conventional household.

Star is suitable for a home with children, but might be a bit bouncy for young kids. She will jump up for cuddles and attention, but in a home where she finally gets the level of exercise and attention she needs we suspect this behaviour will decrease. We suggest a home with children aged 7+ so as not to overwhelm anyone.

She is very, very friendly with kids and loves the attention she gets from them. She behaves well around them, she can just be a little over zealous. Star’s ideal home would be based semi-rurally with a garden. Her breed type means she’s an energetic girl who loves the outdoors, and she would really benefit from a family who enjoy being outside and can give her lots of opportunities to let off steam.

Star is strong on the lead and will require further lead training, so needs a confident handler who won’t accidentally drop the lead or get pulled over. She is simply over-excited and under stimulated in the pound, which is why she gets so hyper on the lead. This is most definitely a workable behaviour. Star is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
