The
English Setter
originated
in
France
in
1500 by crossing the Spanish Pointer and the French Pointer. The breed was then brought to Great Britain where it was perfected by a breed named Sir Edward Laverack. He developed the
English Setter
from early French hunting dogs
in
the early 1800's.
