If your dog is not pooping, there is usually a serious problem that needs to be addressed by your veterinarian.

What is Not Pooping?

  1. Partial or complete obstruction in the colon.
  2. Hypothyroidism.
  3. Hypercalcemia.
  4. Swallowing a foreign object.
  5. Dehydration.
  6. Lack of exercise.
  7. Lack of dietary fiber.
  8. Infected anal glands.

If those treatments don't work, or if your dog hasn't pooped in more than two or three days, it's time to go to take your pup to the vet. The vet will check to ensure there isn't a more serious underlying issue at play. She will also be able to assess whether a stool softener, laxative, or enema is appropriate.
