Sometimes, constipation is caused by dehydration, so just the simple act of adding water to your dog's food can be very effective. Add a few spoonfuls to your dog's dry food to make it soft or add enticement to your dog's water, such as a few drops of apple juice or tuna juice.

Ground, dark, and leafy vegetables are high in fiber, which can help to stimulate your dog's bowel movements. You can feed 1 teaspoon of these vegetables per 10 pounds of your dog's body weight once or twice a day. Ginger is another helpful home remedy, according to AvoDerm.

Naturally, adding fibrous foods is a great way to firm up your dogs poop. Fiber absorbs extra liquid in the digestive tract, which helps to harden your dogs stool. Fiber also helps your canine friend to feel more full, which can be helpful with reducing their meal size (see tip #3).

Foods that help dogs poop include pumpkin, spinach, cooked green beans, and wheat bran. These foods add fiber and high water content. You can also try adding ginger, or coconut oil into the diet. Add some aloe vera juice or dilute apple cider vinegar in water.

Mix 1 teaspoon of pumpkin per 10 pounds of your dogs body weight into its food once or twice per day. Pumpkin is a fiber-rich, water-filled food that the American Kennel Club recommends for dogs, and it will stimulate bowel movements. Be sure not to use a pie filling or puree that has added sugar.

This dog food is grain-free, making it ideal for dogs with sensitive stomachs. It features cage-free chicken as the primary ingredient for strong, lean muscles. Plus, it contains probiotics to control stool consistency, firmness, and odor.

Actually, dogs eating kibbles tend to produce stinkier poop because they are not used to absorbing bigger amounts of grains, starches and grain-free options containing peas and potatoes. When these food are not absorbed fully, your dogs digestive system does not know what to do with the food, and they pass out eventually as poop.
