The Bull Terrier hails from Britain and is another of the large terrier breeds on this list who got their start due to blood sports and bull baiting. Created by dog fighters looking for a dog who was more agile and quick than the Bulldogs of old, the Bull Terrier is a cross that went from vicious fighter to family lover rather quickly.

The Neopolitan Mastiff is a huge dog breed that is one of the most unusual in appearance. Just the sight of him is enough to scare you. He weighs up to 130 pounds when fully grown. He has a hulking body mass and an extremely droopy face with eyes that are much like a hounds.

The ?atalburun is a Turkish pointer and one of the three split-nosed breeds, the feature that gives them their unique look. Like the other split-nosed breeds, original enthusiasts felt that the dogs had a better sense of smell due to the odd anatomy. The breed is one of the rarest still in existence today.
